2nd week updates~


2nd bamboo hunt.... waiting for the others to come...

Oo.... its falling~

first week update~


we received order from mr. wan to form a group of 3 to build a big floating dome which carryable by 3 people and also can accommodate all the group members.

my group member are yang aida, and pei cheen. im the leader of the group but i forgot our group name... =.=

anyway, this is what we do for the 1st week:

Real Construction~

We're assigned to build and blog about the production of a dome using bamboo satay stick..here's the process^^



my materials... intention : to Build a 2V dome with 10cm radius


Act : cut the satay sticks according to the appropriate size

actor : me~

first experiment failed, so i replace the glue with paper tape/masking tape.

rule: the angle and the length of the sticks must be correct.

I've done lots of research online to know how to build a dome, like which part to start first, etc. I've face 1 failure and re-do it again and i succeed!

i chose to build a 10cm radius dome. i start building it by making a pentagon (combining the 5 middle shorter sticks together first). Parts by parts i combine the whole thing together and make it as a dome.

Assignment 1: Virtual Construction

Our first assignment for Introduction to Built Environment & Human Settlements to use the pictures of the environment we are from before we enter USM. So it means that we need pictures of our neighbourhood and use the pictures taken to expand the 6 elements of production - intention, act, product, actor, rule and place.

I came from Kuching, Sarawak. So its kinda impossible to ask me to go back and take some pictures. The only thing i can do is to use some of the picture i have taken before coming to USM and asked my sister at Kuching to help me take some photos of our neighbourhood and send them to me. Mr. wan suggested me to follow my friend back to their home town but i find its difficult for me to write something out based on a place that i'm not familiar with.
So, here are some pictures that i have with me:
1. This picture was taken during my aunt's wedding few months back at my grandmother house (only 10 minutes drive from my house).
From this picture, all of us are actors. All of us carried out one intention on that particular day, that is to celebrate my aunt's wedding.

2. This picture was taken by my sister at the playground near to my house. only a 5 minute or less walk. This is the place where all the people at my neighbourhood gathered and play basketball and exercise. In this picture.
Intention : Give the best facilities to the residents
Act : Build a playground
Product: A brand new plyaground/park

3. This is my home... the place where i grow up. i've been here ever since i was born. This is the place where i've face so much problems and also so much love from my family..

4. This picture is taken at the coffee shop nearby my house. During weekends, lots of people will go there with their families and have their breakfast there. This lady here had just bought her breakfast, or perhaps her whole family's breakfast.

5. Traffic... This is the road to the nearby hospital. During evening and morning time, traffic is always heavy. So everyone must follow the rule and be patient to wait for their turn ^^
